Good Thing We Live in Lewistown

The past Friday, we packed up and headed to Great Falls to go see the Mission Mountain Wood Band with some friends. It was so great to get away from the house and our list of projects for a couple days and we had a ton of fun!

Here is a picture of us at the concert:

Friday started off pretty crazy for Chad and I. People from my work started calling and texting me at 6:45 am over an "urgent" (but really not so urgent project), good thing I was in the shower at the time of their first calls or else I probably would have been far more upset than I was when I got their calls at 7:30 am. I hopped online, tried to calm some folks down, only took 3 hours to do this- didn't these crazy people know that it is Friday for goodness sake? Then I had to make time to get the kiddos off to the local Bed and Biscuit. It was a pretty warm day, it almost reached 80 degrees. I had to leave the dogs in the car while I went inside to get them checked in to their temporary home for the weekend. It was too hot to leave them in the car for too long and I had no idea how long this would take, so I used my best small town judgment and rolled the windows up, cranked up the AC and left the car running. Good thing we live in Lewistown. These kind of actions are not only risky and frowned upon in Colorado, but they are illegal. The car would probably get stolen, though the car jacker would be in for a surprise when Ty would start screaming once they tried to drive away- as many folks know, Ty doesn't bark, he screams. And a car left running while unattended is considered a puffer car and the owner gets issued a large ticket for polluting the air. Anywho, we're not in Colorado anymore Toto. The dogs got checked in ok and back to work I go.

The rest of the afternoon was pretty crazy work wise for Chad and I and we still had to pack for our getaway and hit the road by 5 pm. Yikes! Chad got home from work and we throw our clothes in a bag, grab some blankets and chairs for the concert and off we go. A couple weeks ago we left a spare key under the chairs that we store on our front porch in case we needed one of our friends to check on the house while we were out of town. Chad and I are the crazy people in town who actually lock all of our doors and windows. So when we grabbed the chairs for the concert, the key was left completely exposed on our front porch for a couple days. Ooops. Good thing we live in Lewistown. Or else we could have come home to an empty house.

We made it to the concert on time and successfully found our friends who had kindly saved us a spot to set up our chairs. The concert was held at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls, which is right on the Missouri River. It was a gorgeous setting for the concert and we got to enjoy a great Montana sky and great Montana sunset.

Baby thoroughly enjoyed the concert and I think he was dancing or drumming along with the band. Chad and I were at our chairs just listening to the music when our friend Candy came and got us so we could go stand up at the front of the stage. Who were we to say no? So I reached for my purse and she says, "Just leave it, you are in Montana, no one is going to take it." I grabbed my camera, stashed my purse under our blankets and we headed to the stage. The whole time I was away from my purse I was seriously worried that someone would steal it and almost went back to get my purse. We got back to our blankets and the purse was still there. Good thing we live in Montana (though I don't think I will do that again).

On Saturday, we got up and had a nice breakfast then headed off through the mountains to the Smith River. This area of Montana is gorgeous and we can't wait to make it back there. Though there is a lot of traffic to watch out for:

We accompanied some of our friends to the river to shuttle their cars because they were going on a float trip. It was a great chance to see the river and hang out with some great folks. We got everyone successfully off on their float trip, so we just had to drop the cars back off at the cabin and then we were off for another drive through the mountains. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time.

When we got home we noticed our mailman had delivered checks that we ordered, but since they wouldn't fit through the mail slot the box of checks were left on our front porch. We thought this was kind of odd to leave such sensitive material on the front porch in plain sight and we were kind of upset. We were so upset that we accidentally left the checks on our front porch until the next day. Oops. Good thing we live in Lewistwon.
