Baby Shower, Chad and Beckie Style

Well, the vacation in Boulder was a success! We got to catch up with friends and family (we also came away with a lot of amazing loot from the baby shower and shopping). Sadly, I did not take a single picture of our trip, which is not like me at all. We were just on the go the whole time and I didn't think of snapping any pictures.

Our baby shower was held at our favorite restaurant, Southern Sun Brewery. This place is amazing. Great food, even better beer and just an all around fun atmosphere. Many folks were questioning the choice of having a baby shower at a brewery, but that is just how we roll. I have been to a few baby showers in my time and I think they seriously have to be one of the most painful rituals out there. I was very adamant not to have a baby shower that people cringed going to. Plus, I wanted Chad there and give him an opportunity to catch up with friends so we made this a co-ed baby shower with beer to entice people to show up. We are so blessed with such great friends and family and truly appreciate everything that they do. I hope folks had a great time, because we sure did!

Chad, Matt and Neil had some hilarious conversations and came up with some great ideas for reality shows that our baby could star in. One was called "Survivor Baby", where our baby would go on survival challenges with Bear Grylls. Though I am not quite sure how that would go over with Department of Children Services. And I don't think my mom was a fan of any of their ideas, which I think contributed to the increased wackiness of reality show ideas that could star our baby.

While we were in Boulder, Chad and I made our way to the big city shops like Lowe's and Target. At Lowe's, we finally picked out a color for the nursery and our bedroom. Fingers crossed that the colors actually turn out like we want because we went ahead and purchased the paint. We also bought a new ceiling fan for the nursery and a new outdoor light for the front porch. So little by little, we keep adding more projects for ourselves. Chad already mentioned that if he doesn't get something completed by the time baby arrives, he will have his dad and mom help out. Sooooo Ted and Cindy, be on the look out for Chad saying "Mommmmmmm, it is just a little ceiling fan or a little painting." Chad is trying to sell you a bill of goods and skepticism is probably the best approach.

We spent about 2 hours at Target wandering mindlessly down the aisles, which was a ton of fun! We bought a lamp for the living room, some more baby clothes and nursery decorations. Being in the big city also gave us an opportunity to go to the mall. We "shopped" at Pottery Barn a couple times, which basically just meant that we looked at all the things we are going to buy in the next few weeks, but we didn't actually buy anything quite yet. I also got to stop by Gap and get my first pair of maternity jeans and let's just say that I am a huge fan. Pull up jeans with an elastic waist! Hello comfort!

During our time in Boulder, Chad and I celebrated our Second, Second Anniversary! For those who are not familiar with the way Chad's and my anniversaries work, we have a marriage anniversary (the date we signed the marriage certificate at the Jefferson County DMV- November 29th) and a wedding anniversary (the date that our wedding was held- June 14th). It has been a crazy two years, but we have been having a ton of fun and look forward to our future together with baby!

Our drive back to Lewistown was pretty uneventful. We had gorgeous weather until we got to Billings, then we ran into a rain and wind storm for a few miles- nothing too major though. We were glad to be back at home and ready to have a day of pure relaxation. Life is good and living in Montana isn't as hard as everyone said it was going to be. Or is it?
