A couple weekends ago, we headed up to the mountains to escape the heat in town (upper 70's) and took a drive on Red Hill Road and went over Half Moon Pass, which separates the Big Snowy Mountains and the Little Snowy Mountains. This was a pretty neat drive and we passed a lot of great land that we would love to buy one day (soooo I'm just going to throw this out there, if anyone can't think of a Christmas present for us, we can provide you with a list of these places- you know, just for some ideas). We turned around when we got to the top of the Snowies and you could see the other side of Montana. Here is a picture from the top:
On our way back towards Lewistown, we stopped for a short hike. Here are some pictures of us on our hike:
We came across wild strawberries and they were so tiny, but oh so delicious.
The trails around this area are awesome, really well kept and absolutely no people! We will definitely be taking our dogs back here, especially since there wasn't a drop of cow poop in sight. We didn't get to hike very far because I was getting hungry and could feel the exhaustion and crankiness coming on, so we had to get back to town STAT. Those little strawberries could only curb the hunger of a hobbit and not the hunger of a pregnant lady. We got safely back to town and stopped by Dash Inn to pick up some tasty treats and I was a happy camper again.
Last week, Chad caught the bug. The flyfishing bug. And boy, has he got it bad. Our neighbor is an avid flyfisherman and is willing to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport with anyone, so Chad headed out with him one night after work and picked up a ton of great tips and has been hooked ever since. We have always loved fishing and have dabbled in flyfishing before, but now that we know what we are doing and where to go, fishing has definitely become a lot more fun. Chad was excited to show me his new skills last weekend, so we packed up the fishing gear and went to the lower part of Spring Creek (pronounced Crik up here). Here are some pictures of us fishing:
Hunting season is upon us and Chad is coming down with that fever as well. This should be interesting to find out what Fall has in store and what kind of trouble he will be getting into. He already has an extensive list of things he "must have" to get him through the Fall and as I am writing this blog entry, he just added a bigger TV to that list so we can adequately watch football. I am just excited that we have 4 weeks or less to go until baby arrives and we get to see our family soon. I guess a new TV doesn't sound all that bad either.
